Please Note: This role may require occasional travel to various Food Basics store locations across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), including but not limited to Etobicoke, North York, Toronto, Mississauga, and Brampton. Candidates should be comfortable commuting within these regions as needed to support store operations.
What You’ll Do
- Support the Store Manager in achieving sales, profit, and margin targets, as well as shrink and labor goals.
- Implement merchandising programs, processes, and procedures to optimize operations and profitability.
- Collaborate with Department Managers to set productivity goals and ensure adherence to operational standards.
- Hire, train, and mentor a customer-focused team.
- Create a positive shopping environment by modeling and promoting excellent customer service.
- Direct, coach, and develop team members to excel in their roles.
- Maintain the store in compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure operations adhere to company policies, government legislation, and collective agreements.
- Lead store initiatives that enhance community involvement and the store's reputation as a community supporter.
- Monitor local market competition and provide recommendations to address any competitive challenges.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and union business representatives.
- Actively adopt and ensure team proficiency with new technologies and tools.
Qualifications
- College or University degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of progressive management experience in retail (grocery experience an asset).
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong business acumen with excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
- Proven time management skills to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
