Electrical and Controls Engineer Calgary or Lethbridge

Responsibilities:

As part of an integrated project team, the Electrical and Controls Engineer will report to the Lead Electrical Engineer, and will be asked to perform the following:

  • Electrical Engineering design:
    • Medium and low voltage distribution
    • Emergency backup systems (ATS, generator and/or UPS)
    • Grounding
    • Fire alarm
    • Lighting and lighting controls
  • Power system engineering:
    • Power system modelling (SKM, ETAP)
    • Engineering studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, coordination)
  • Load control engineering:
    • Motor control centres
    • Motor schematics
    • Variable frequency drives, soft starters
  • Process control and control system engineering (optional, asset):
    • P&ID and control narrative
    • Instrumentation, IO lists
    • Process control panels
    • Process control networks
  • Project engineering
    • Project management
    • Utility coordination
    • AutoCAD/Revit drafting
    • Design packages
    • Equipment specifications
    • Tender packages
    • Engineering field reviews
    • Construction, startup and commissioning support

Key Requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical engineering degree;
  • Relevant 5 to 10 years experience;
  • Current registration with the provincial engineering association (AB);
  • Experience in consulting engineering in agrifood , food and beverage industries an asset;
  • Process control and control system automation an asset;
  • Knowledge of control system platforms (Rockwell Automation, DeltaV, Siemens) an asset;
  • Strong knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria.
  • Able to make regular trips to the customers’ place of business.

  • Strong knowledge of local, Provincial (AB) and National regulations and standards relating to electrical installations.

  • Excellent communication skills.
