Senior Systems Administrator (ISIT-405)

Nature of the Work:
The principal and customary work of the employee in this employment class consists in assuming the duties of a senior systems administrator of the college, carrying out highly technical duties and developing various computer programs intended for the processing of data from systems whose specifications have been established by himself or other administrators. 

In particular, the senior systems administrator’s primary responsibilities are Microsoft 365, Windows servers and backups. They share responsibilities with another senior administrator for the administration of the virtual infrastructure, the server room, and the Linux servers.

Responsibilities:
•    Recommend, configure, and train technicians on Microsoft 365 services, write and maintain scripts to automate tasks within Microsoft 365 (e.g. license assignment)
•    Recommend and configure security policies within Azure AD
•    Help maintain the backup infrastructure (Veeam, Rubrik), recommend backup policies and ensure they are being followed
•    Ensure the proper tools are available and configured for managing and monitoring servers and infrastructure; ensure that servers are updated in a timely manner
•    Deploy and maintain Windows servers
•    Participate in the deployment and maintenance of the virtual infrastructure (VMware)
•    Participate in the deployment and maintenance of Linux
•    Maintain communication with suppliers of the above-mentioned hardware and software, advising and recommending new versions, revisions or any changes to the procedures or systems
•    Create and maintain documentation for systems under their area of responsibility
•    Participate in the Help Desk Support calls of levels two or three in their area of responsibility
•    Perform other duties as required by the Director of IST

Qualifications:
To have a Diplôme d’études collégiales (DEC) or Attestation d'études collégiales (AEC) in an appropriate specialization or a diploma or attestation of studies that is recognized as equivalent by the College with 4 years’ experience or equivalent employment.

Conditions:
•    Advanced English communication skills (testing may be required)
•    Basic conversation French (testing may be required)
•    Demonstrated experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure (testing may be required)
•    Experience with VMware, Fortigate, Veeam, AWS, an asset
•    Must be self-motivated with strong customer service skills and comfortable working in a collegiate environment
