Industrial Mechanic

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Industrial Mechanic to join our dynamic Hamilton team and contribute to our continued growth.

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain, inspect, and repair components and systems such as bearings, gears, clutches, couplings, belted and shafted drives, gearboxes, air compressors, pneumatic systems, natural gas-fired burners, heat exchanger system, AC/DC motors, Safety PLC’s and related controls, pumps, conveyor systems, automated and semi-automated production equipment.
  • Completing preventive maintenance requirements on equipment
  • Identify issues and determine root cause of malfunctioning equipment
  • Perform basic welding and machinist tasks
  • Participate in all site safety programs and support all company policies and procedures
  • Respond to emergency requests for maintenance (after hours/weekends as needed)
  • Utilize vendor support to learn proper equipment cleaning and maintenance practices
  • Monitors pre-treatment bath chemical composition and adjusts in conjunction with the Technical Director
  • Completes maintenance records and maintains operating logbooks and databases as required
  • Maintains control of plant tools, manuals, repair parts, assemblies, and consumables
  • Research equipment manuals and requisition repair parts. Identify and assist in sourcing/purchasing parts
  • Demonstrate the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts and consumable parts for equipment
  • Works from elevated areas such as ladders, platforms, scaffolding, utilizing fall protection equipment as necessary to complete tasks
  • Applicant must be a highly motivated individual willing to work flexible shifts depending on workload in a team orientated environment with minimal supervision

What You Bring:

  • Previous experience in a similar role and/or industry with a minimum of 5 years
  • Millwright or Electrician trade designation is an asset
  • General understanding of: Over-head cranes,  Hydraulic lifting equipment and Furnace and heat exchangers 
  • Welding experience
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Problem Solving skills
  • Ability to read technical drawings
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven track record of punctuality and dependability
  • Positive and professional attitude under pressure
  • Proficient in Excel, Outlook, Word

Education

  • College Diploma, University Degree, or Skilled Trade Certificate
  • Minimum High School Diploma combined with equivalent work experience and education including licenses/certificates in one or more related trade disciplines
